Reviews for 801 Mandela Rhodes Place
Very beautiful hotel. Many of Mandela's statues and pics were worth seeing. You will surely not miss clicking a selfie with him.
I was lucky to get this place as my 1st stay in South Africa. It has a unique location as its in the city center of Cape Town. Its surrounded with many cafes, restaurant, groceries, ATMs and much more. You just dont need to use the car here.On Thursday (famer market or Friday market) are set up just in front of the hotel. So do not miss this event. There is a beautiful Garden/Park just in front of the hotel where it has a wonderful restaurant. I used to go there almost every day. Some rooms overlooking the famous Table Mountain. Room, my room size was big and was well organized and well kept. Ive heard that, rooms size varies from tower to another!Service was goodThe hotel has I think 2 restaurants and a caf! One of the restaurant is on the top recommend in the tourist list. The prices of the hotel is reasonable in my opinionWi-Fi in my room was an issue. The modem provide by the hotel was running out of credit a lot. To be recharge I had to call the reception to send me a helper to collect the modem, recharge it and send it back again. This event was repeating almost daily! It was such a hassle.
Very helpful staff. Close and affordable parking for the Centre of the City.
Nice quiet and relaxing place to stay with a nice view of Table Mountain, and friendly staff and security
Hidden gem of Cape Town. Huge, spacious rooms, very friendly and efficient staff. This is the second time I have stayed here. Love it!
Great staff and location. Reception team is fabulous. Cleanliness top notch. Awsome views and spaceous apartments. A pitty about the pool. Anticipating the wifi??
Good rooms but now the service is detiorating
In the centre of the city, good variety of places to eat and a lovely stay with a good view of the mountain. Building is a tad on the old side, but really enjoyed my stay added with a very centralized location.
Awesome touristy spot
Nice hotel. Super secure. Great area
I find the combination of the two historical figures in south Africa to almost be a betrayal of what the men believed in and fought tooth and nail to achieve in their life time on earth. Rhodes was a typical colonialist who at once owned modern day Zimbabwe like one would own a farm. Mandela fought for justice freedom and equality. How the two come together in an opulent high end hotel in Cape Town near the company gardens will baffle my mind to the end...
I was surprised to learn that 60% of this "hotel" is in fact residential and not available for tourists! This is not unlike Japan. Can't swing a cat even if you wanted to.
The rooms are really well equipped. We had a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, washing machine, Hob, oven, microwave, toaster and even a drier! With ample storage space! The room was large with a breakfast bar style table and chairs to eat at and TV with a number of film, sports and news channels. They do offer free WiFi for two devices per guest giving 250mb of data per day per guest, for us this was ample but you can purchase more. Staff were friendly but for some reason he person on reception couldnt use the card machine so we had to wait for a colleague before we could pay. One morning we were woken to loud noises from within the hotel and they had workmen dismantling scaffolding and due to the hotel design echoed around the place at 8am and we were nowhere near the scaffolding!
