Reviews for Ballito Backpackers
Very clean, friendly staff, close to all the popular place that I would doing. Will recommend this place to everyone that's wants to enjoy the night life nd during the day just to relax at the beach.
Great affordable accomodationNice rooms, Staff friendly, keep clean the whole timeOnly problem is from 8 till 2 the morning the club across street music very very loud impossible to sleep! Maybe better at sea side?
Very affordable place. Not five star type but close to the beach and lots of restaurants plus Ballito Lifestyle Centre is close by...
Exceptional !!! Great value for spacious rooms, a big kitchen fully equipped, clean bathrooms, nice sociable braai area. Great views and in walking distance of everything. Helpful and friendly staff catering for all your needs. Gave us an amazing holiday. I wouldnt go anywhere else !!!
Bad service and depressing facilities!Guests staying there are also really trashy, this place seems to attract suspicious characters!
Nice overnight accommodation if you don't want to drive back to Durban after a night out
One of the worst experiences I've had in Durban's backpackers. The bedding was dirty, smelled really badly and it felt like there was bed bugs. When we asked the owner for cancellation of our second night, he refused and said we should have reported this during the night. We felt that is was wrong to ask us of this, especially when it would have disturbed them at early parts of the morning. We found the owner/manager rude and confrontational. He accused us of smelling. Despite the poor bedding conditions, the accommodation is situated very close to nightclubs and therefore there is noise all night long (which is understandable). We've pretty much travelled the whole of South Africa, and we have never experienced this poor service at a backpackers. It really does not feel like a backpackers.
It was the worse experience in my life. I lost +/- R10 000 due to misleading advertizing. We booked in on 23 December and had to book out on the 24 December 2013 and had to look for new accommondation due to poor maintenance and load music during the night; according to the advertising all the rooms have air-conditionings in them? They dont even work ?????The beds are in poor conditions the kitchine are of poor quality everything in this place is old. They dont say anything about the load music during the night; the place is surrounded by night clubs. The entire advertising of this place is misleading !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even the PHOTOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For a start, the photo on this page of the barstools and umbrella near the sea-shore is a nearby restaurant, NOT the backpackers. This is misrepresentation. We had great difficulty even finding the entrance to the backpackers since it is on the upper floors of a half-empty office block and there was poor signage. The room was clean but consisted of only 4 bunkbeds, a small chair and 4 hooks. The showers were up another level at the end of a spooky corridor, and there was no hot water at the time we stayed. The kitchen was big but was untidy with half-eaten meals on the benches and dishes in the sink. The Fire Escape to the roof was padlocked. The lounge area was tatty and ripped. There was no Wifi and no towel hire available. We had to find someone to unlock the car park gate when we wanted to leave at 8.20am. There is a Nightclub on the same premises and the noise pounded from 11pm until 2am - great for party-goers but not if you need to sleep. There were also fights on the street outside when the club closed. Even though we are an older couple, we're not stodgy and have stayed in many backpackers around the world. We'll never go back there.
