Sterland Baroe is ideal for four to six people travelling together. The cottage can be rented on a self-catering basis.
The cottage has two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms each with a double and single bed. The bedrooms share a cosy lounge with a TV, Selected DStv and indoor fireplace - perfect for the cold winter months. Breakfast is available at a number of restaurants within walking distance of the guesthouse.
The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen and facilities include a fridge, a microwave, a two-plate stove and tea and coffee-making facilities. There is also an outdoor braai area.
Sutherland is a beautiful, quiet area in the middle of the Karoo and is best known as the site for the South African Large Telescope (SALT). An observatory tour is a must, as well as a private stargazing session right outside town. We do our private stargazing very night at STERLAND just one km out of town to enjoy dark open skies. Booking is essential.

A very cosy place to stay in when visiting Sutherland. Definitely not a bed and breakfast. It is self catering. There are a lot of rules about what you may and may not do on the premises though. The list of what you MAY do would actually be shorter than the list of what you may NOT do...

Jurg, the owner is friendly and knowledgeable, he also loves sharing his passion for astronomy. The Accomodation is standard but spacious and Sterland Baroe would be lovely for six adults visiting Sutherland especially if you make use of the indoor braai which would warm the self catering guesthouse.

A cute clean no fuss guest house - ideal for a short stop over to experience Salt and star gazing . Jurg the host is amazingly knowledgable about the Sutherland and all it offers . He has self taught himself about the star gazing and offers a great star gazing experience
