Berg River Resort
Paarl, Winelands - Accommodation
Berg River Resort in Paarl
Situated on the banks of the Berg River, the resort offers a tranquil setting as well as activities for children of all ages. There are approximately 150 partially grassed stands for caravans and tents, most with 15 amp electrical outlets, while the self-catering family chalets cater two to six people. These range from bachelor-style chalets for two people to two-bedroom units.
Berg River Cafe provides essentials as well as meals, and catering for small, private functions and group bookings can also be arranged. Please note that some of the facilities will be closed for the winter from May till end of September. Please note that we cater for couples and families (parents with school going children) only.
Due to the ongoing drought in the Western Cape the water level in the river has dropped significantly to the point that the river has stopped flowing all together . This will be the situation till we receive enough rain for the authorities to release water from the Berg River Dam.
Berg River Resort and the adjoining farm have no access to Municipal water. The use of our own alternative water sources from boreholes and the river means that the pools and water slide will continue to operate during this summer. The water restrictions which apply for Municipal water also apply to clients water use at the Resort. This is to ensure that every effort is made collectively to reduce water consumption and comply with Government regulations.

Reviews for Berg River Resort
Lovely place to spend a weekend with both pool and river to choose from. Clean ablutions and green grass sites.
Provincial western cape hosted their yearly rally at Berg river resort this weekend. This was outstanding. Thank you Berg river resort
I think this is currently one of the best local camping sites ever. Clean and well maintained and perfect for families with children. I love the fact that they dont tolerate loud music and noise. This alliws you to really enjoy your time spend there with family and friends.
Absolutely fantastic place. Accommodation was simple but clean and comfortable and everything that we required was provided. Beautiful views of the river and wildlife. Our 2 year old loved running around on the well kept lawns and the various play grounds and especially loved going to look at the farm animals. Would recommend to anyone looking to take a relaxing break or a kid friendly place to stay. Also very close to Cape town so minimal travel time.
It was EXTREMELY noisy, late into the night. The owners could not enforce their 'no music' rule and couldn't stop campers from making a noise up to 3 am. 3 night of little sleep. Never again.
Wonderful place for the family to enjoy for a day or a longer stay. A river, swimming pool and various other activities. Thoroughly enjoy our visits...
Really great place, only reason my rating is so low is due to the security or what ever he is... Legit has no respect.. Im not one to ever play any kind of race card but he acted a slight bit racist..i was playing music from a laptop softly.. With no1 else around in neighboring camps sites and he, with a very smuck attitude told me to turn it off, while the white guy in the cabin about 150m away can watch his rugby as loud as he want .. Completely ridiculous seeing that we were the only couple in the entire camping area in the middle of winter..Even tho I can appreciate the strict rules due to the fact that it probably gets out of hand over the festive season, I don't see any logical reason behind this if it doesn't bother anyone. Everyone just wants to have a good time. But never the less i had a great time..
Awesome place and will go back for third time, anytime!! Love the chalets as they have everything you need. I would love it if they had a light at the braai area though, but other than that... Do yourself a favour and pay them a visit.
A wonderful campsite just a short distance out outside of Paarl and Stellenbosch. When you arrive the staff at the reception of friendly and they give you all of the assistance you require to understand the rules and regulations of the campsite. The camp management attempt to locate Campers in locations that are suitable so that they don't interrupt others for example if you are a group of young people they would put you slightly away from the older people so that your noise cannot bother them.Very reasonably priced and if you're looking for somewhere to go do yourself a favour in summer and go there as his is a perfect location
"Blustery Berg River!"
We arrived at the Berg River Resort around 17h00 on Friday evening. The check-in was seamless, and we were directed to chalet No 10. I was rather smaller than we had anticipated, but it was spotlessly clean. It did not stop pouring down for the whole night. in the morning the river was well above its normal level. The Electric kettle "Shorted out and tripped the electricity in the chalet. there was a cleaning crew at the chalet next door, and they radioed the office and a new kettle was delivered within 10 minutes, and the electricity switched on again. The rain did not stop the whole of Saturday, so we decided to leave early on Sunday. we checked out around 10h00, and the chalet was checked and the breakage deposit was returned.
"Noise at night was bad"
The resort is convenient for a weekend away, has nice facilities and is well situated. My concern is noise level is unbearable. On Friday and Saturday night we couldnt sleep properly. Further, the lights should perhaps be switched off at night, especially those close to the camp sites.
