Reviews for Budmarsh Country Lodge
Awesome experience for an afternoon with someone special.Snacks was delicious and more than enough. Wine selection was also decent
I had the privilege of hosting my wedding at Budmarsh Country Lodge on 6 October 2018.I fell in love with the beautiful venue on first sight! The one thing that however trumped the beautiful surroundings, is the impeccable service of the staff. At every step of the planning and hosting of the wedding the staff was friendly and willing to accommodate every request. The service was not only on the 5-star rating the lodge held, but also had a personal touch. My special thanks goes out to Tracy, Mike and Gerry for their shared excitement and can-do attitude. They, together with the rest of the staff made my wedding a most beautiful, relaxed and intimate occassion.I was overwhelmed with compliments from guests on the elegance, style and wonderful food. Quite a few guests were so impressed that they assured me that they will definitely return for a romantic break (or simply to enjoy the excellent food).Thank you Budmarsh!
Awesome place. Great spot to get away from the Jozi hustle and bustle. Great country side views and the staff is friendly and helpful.
This is our third visit to this superb establishment. This time to celebrate my wife's birthday. From booking to the exquisite food and wine to the kind and thoughtful staff, it has been another wonderful experience. And they always do something extra if they know it's a special occasion.Thank you Budmarsh!
Budmarsh was truly the most exquisite experience of my life. It is set in a spectacular location not too far from the city. The rooms are spacious with a massive bed and cosy fire place. The dinner is fine dining 8 courses and the cocktails are strong as hell! I've never tasted such delicious food! If you want to spoil a loved one or just take a break you can't go wrong with this old country lodge. They also give your car a wash before you leave which is a lovely touch. We'll be back soon!!
We had a wonderful time!! The staff were awesome and the chef prepared the most amazing meals! We were completely spoilt for our anniversary. Loved the dogs Thank you so much!
By far, one of the best breakaways I've ever had. Just over an hours drive from Johannesburg this secluded lodge is the perfect place for a quiet relaxing weekend away! And of course with top quality amenities and services!Arriving at the lodge was easy and quick to find, with a 2 to 3 minute dirt road off the main road. Parking was ample. (I found my car valeted the next morning! I wanted to cry with joy! Wow) please try to tip the gentlemen who do it for you.Anyway check in was super quick and had a lovely welcome drink, perfect for winter! They showed my partner and I to the room and we were so amazed.Cute little verandah furniture greeted us, inside was the most comfortable bed ever. A beautiful outdoor shower was also a pleasant surprise. And to top it all off, there was a towel heater! What 5 star quality! The 8 course dinner was one of the best dinners I've ever had in my life! And this isn't an exaggeration. The different courses took me on a journey I never wanted to end. Each dish was well orchestrated, plating, textures, tastes everything was pretty worth the price.Thank you Budmarsh for a royal experience!
We were treated to a very special anniversary dinner at Budmarsh. The food was beautiful and delicious to match. It was really a wonderful experience!!
Had the most relaxing time. The staff were very efficient and friendly and the manager Mike went the extra mile to accommodate us at short notice. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The food, especially the breakfast was out of this world. Definitely a treat worth repeating! One night is not enough time to enjoy the tranquil setting.
Beautiful location, exceptional service and attention to detail from all the staff and amazing food (both the picnic and fine dining). Highly recommended.
Fantastic place, we make a point to try and go once a year, I absolutely love this place.
What an awesome place to visit, from the moment I was doing the reservation to arrival and the actual time spent there. On my rating scale they get a 6 out of 5
Overall exquisite experience! Beautiful setting in the bush with lovely friendly service. Wonderful and delicious picnic basket available to share with your partner under the trees watching the birds in the dams.
The hotel gives you the nice feeling of a farmhouse. It was raining on the day we got there and we almost got stuck with our Mini on the slippery and muddy gravel road, part of the adventure... At the security gate we received a friendly greeting. After a run in the rain with our luggage we entered the building and a big fireplace welcomed you. We however did not receive a welcome from anyone at reception and had to go look for someone to book us in.The place is very relaxing and have big open areas and nice walking routes with a pond to explore. The room was nice and clean and had some nice features like the outdoor shower. We had a wonderful lunch but again the staff was missing, we had to go look for them again... There were many activities to keep you busy even with the rain outside. The highlight was definitely the 8 course fine dining menu. This is a recommended must for everyone! It was still a lovely evening. The next morning, a beautiful sunny morning, breakfast. Staff was missing, no coffee cups, no classes for water or juice, croissants were old, waited for 15 minutes for a table. The service definitely spoiled the experience. Not what one would expect from a 3 star place, and this place apparently have 5?
The food was great and the service very good
"We had a wonderful stay"
If peace and quiet, excellent food and service are what you are looking for, then Budmarsh is the place to visit. We had a wonderful stay, were comfortable and enjoyed the experience. The only downside was that tour underfloor heating was not working, making the bathroom really cold. The room was warm with the fireplace fing at all times.
