Camelroc Guest Farm in Fouriesburg

Facing the spectacular sandstone hill, with the outcrop shaped as a camel's head (giving it it's name), is this tranquil farm with glorious views of the Maluti Mountains. Camelroc is situated between the two Caledon rivers and is close to Caledonspoort border post. Camelroc can definately be recommended as a good base from which to explore the Eastern Free State as well as Lesotho. For those who prefer to stay at base and relax, one can opt to take walks into the mountain, have a swim in the pool and braai beside the cottage whilst enjoying the serenity and splendour of this Eastern Free State countryside. There are diverse activities to be enjoyed and places to discover in the area.

Camelroc has seven chalets that are fully furnished and well equipped to self cater: Two cosy open plan chalets sleeping 2 to 3 guests; one small 2-bedroom chalet (double bed & bunk bed) sleeping a maximum of 4 guests; two 2-bedroomed chalets, sleeps 2 in each of the rooms, plus 2 on a sleeper couch in the lounge; one 3-bedroom 8 sleeper; and one 4-bedroom 8 sleeper.

In the main homestead one can be accommodated in the guest house's three en-suite rooms sleeping 2 each and tastefully decorated with Oregon pine furnishings. Please note, rooms in the main house are not equipped for self-catering.

Guests are welcome to enjoy the use of the thatched entertainment area around the pool or play table tennis on the patio. There is a netball ring in the garden and ample space to play ball games and volley ball.

The Guesthouse, built from traditional sandstone, has a fireplace in the lounge. All the bedrooms have heaters and electric blankets for the cold winter nights. The perfect halfway stop between the Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. Come and enjoy this country stay with its beautiful views of the countryside, bird life, small game, rock art and the Poplar tree's turning in Autumn.

Not bad you know, really loved the place but it wasn't that beautiful as I expected it to be. I thought maybe because its near Lesotho, I would see the great scenery of the mountain kingdom. But guys please do visit this place, its not bad.

"The best place ever"

What is the name of this animal/bird? It is not an ostrich but what is it? I enjoyed it. My son enjoyed the walking trail. We all enjoyed the place.

"Great hiking trials"

We loved staying there. The hiking trials are very well maintained and covers all the different habitats on the farm. The chalet was neat and clean with all the essentials.
