Clico Boutique Hotel in Johannesburg
Officially opened in June 2006, Clico is perfectly situated in the leafy, central Rosebank, an upmarket suburb of South Africa’s commercial centre, Johannesburg. Housed in a 60-year old Cape Dutch house, Clico is an engaging mix of old and new – from the original Oregon pine floorboards and antique inlaid-wood side tables from Morocco, to custom-made, comfortable couches and the modern, whimsical sculptures by Anton Smit.
Clico was the idea of owner Jeanette Schwegmann and chef Sean Ackermann, who realised the need to cater for the travel-weary, discerning guest in need of personal attention. The Boutique Hotel manager is the young and vibrant Adéle de Waal, who has both local and international experience in tourism management.
Clico is poised to cater for upmarket corporate guests as well as leisure-seeking tourists. Whether you’re after wireless internet from a plush armchair, or a perfect martini made with Tanqueray gin after a tour to Soweto or the Cradle of Humankind, we’re here to indulge you.
For some of the finest shopping in South Africa, visit the Rosebank Mall and The Zone shopping centres, two large shopping centres situated side by side, just a few blocks away from Clico Boutique Hotel. Whether you’re looking for chic, designer African fashion, the latest music, books, or trolley loads of homeware, technological gadgets or just about anything else, you’re sure to find it in this extensive shopping area, which is home to department stores, smaller boutiques, many trendy coffee shops and two cinema complexes, including a “Cinema Nouveau”, for limited release films.
Breakfasts are a selection of cereals, yoghurts, croissants or muffins, followed by a hot breakfast tailor-made for your tastebuds. It’s worth remembering that Sean has a secret recipe for scrambled eggs.
Lunch is available on request.
Once a month a chef’s table is held at Clico, with the focus on teaming up cuisine with visiting wine-makers’ tipples, whilst also playing host to some of our top local chefs.
We strive to provide service that is as sparkling as our ingredients are fresh.

Reviews for Clico Boutique Hotel
Lovely venue for meetings of up to 25 pax. Great and central location
Room #8 is the winner. Didn't get to spend a night there. Now considering booking. Refurbishment has improved the restaurant and shared areas.
Great hospitality, friendly staff and the food served is delicious! Safe area and easy to find.
Good small conference venue. Helpful staff. Good food (fussy vegetarians well catered for).
What a hart warming experience! From beginning to the end, we were greeted with a smile and personal attention. I made a booking to celebrate my hubbys birthday for just the two of us, and it really felt as if we were the only guests there. Now the food, we have never had lamb this good, ever! The attention to detail and flavouring is top notch! Thanks. We will be back
Brilliant guesthouse in the heart of Rosebank. Great in-house. He and recently was treated to the winter tasting menu. Top notch and something to please most palates. The lamb shoulder and pork belly were something spectacular.
I feel the boutique is too small, there is no nice place to take pictures inside yard. The parking is only available for people who are spending a night also not spacious at all! People who reserve the place for dinner only park outside. the food is too costly and served in extremely small portions. Service is great yes. But the place needs improvement.
Great ambiance and intimate feel. Service started great, but ended lax. Food nicely presented..room for improvement. Taste good..but not memorable. Great space for catching up with a friend you haven't seen in a while...Not noisy and tranquil feeling to the space.
It was a stunning lunch. A great menu superbly prepared. Accompanied by beautiful music. Will definitely go back.
Unbelievably great experience! These folks simply could not do more to make our stay awesome. I owe them a letter of thanks and further support.
Really good food, but parking is a problem. Got told to park in a specific spot. When I raised the concern that I might get parked in, in that spot, I was assured that I won't be. I got parked in.
everything is perfect however its a botique so 10/10 for all. If you find a mistake in your order or something was not right you must have been having a terrible day.simply lovelyawesome mealsgreat servicestranquil space...so peaceful
Absolutely magnificent! If I could give 6 stars for the restaurant I would. We had the 5 course dinner with wine pairing and it was delicious! The staff were professional and catered for every need. Highly recommend.
This is a superb small Guest House I would recommend to all our friends.
Location, welcome, services, food.JUST ONE WORD: EXCELLENT...............
