Reviews for Drostdy Hotel
I've travelled throughout SA but this could easily be one of the best hotels I've been to. Magnificent. Drostdy take a bow!!!
We only went to the restaurant. Beautiful. Excellent food. Competent service.
The Drostdy Hotel was a wonderful place to stay! Very well situated, in the most beautiful part of Graaff-Reinet, close to all the museums and sights to see.It is super convenient that one of the best restaurants in town is situated in the hotel itself, with very reasonable prices and gourmet food level of quality. We stayed in one of the executive suits for three nights. These are wonderful fully kitted and very spacious rooms. The bed and linen is comfortable and keeps one warm during the very cold winter nights. The decor of the rooms are stunning and inspirational! The bathroom is also done in a beautiful, classic victorian style; the shower is spectacularly comfortable, I loved taking showers. What I loved the most about the hotel is the historical building and how well they have preserved and enhanced it; it was a real treat to explore the rooms in the main building. The only complaint I might have is that the breakfast was not that wonderful... I would have expected a bit better from a five star hotel. However, the rest of the hotel experience does more than make up for the not-so-fantastic breakfast.I would definitely like to go back and stay at the Drostdy Hotel again!
What a place to visit. I am from the Karoo and can tell you that this place is remarkable since the renovations done. They have a great menu for lunch and the bar is just exquisite. If you really want to spoil yourself you can definitely book yourself into the Drostdy. Can be pricey for the locals but international visitors will think this is cheap.for the hospitality you get. Do consider when you are stopping over.
Historical buildings. Beautiful gardens. Ample and secure parking. Centrally situated. Large and very clean rooms. Nice and very helpful staff. Fantastic traditional food. Restaurant very nostalgic. Feels like home from home. Very caring indeed. The Church and ships are close by and a walk through the town is exceptional.
Lovely restored hotel with high quality service levels. The swimming pools are conveniently located near the rooms. Secure parking is inside the hotel complex. It is a very nice boutique hotel with beautiful architecture. Guests rooms are located in smaller buildings that look like historic Dutch houses with colorful blinds on the outside. The restaurant is known for its refined menu. The outdoor seating area is pleasant and comfortable. They have fancy outdoor heaters to keep you warm outside.Overall, even the most demanding guests will have a great time at this hotel.
We only had supper there. The dining room was fully booked and we wanted to leave but one of the senior restaurant personnel, Pieter Arendse, made the effort to set up a table for us in the lounge. The menu is interesting and the food exceeds 5 star dining. The service is what sets this place apart. After 35 years of travelling the world, this is one of the 2 most memorable dining experiences.
Absolutely amazing hotel. It's like a little white village. Although it's a historic place, everything seems very recently renovated. We especially liked the pools and the private 'stoep' at the back of our room. Personnel is very friendly and helpful, restaurant is very good as well. Not cheap however.
The Drostdy Hotel Staff was awesome and made our stay memorable. Only positive comments can be made. Definitely a "come back" hotel on travels through Karoo.
Lovely stay at this prestige hotel.
Arrived early afternoon and enjoyed relaxing time in one of their pools.
Good meal in the restaurant complemented with good choice of wine
