Reviews for Dunkeld Country & Equestrian Estate
Charming estate with amazing potential. Sadly there are Black Wattle everywhere with little evidence of it being exterminated. There was also building rubble next to our unit that just seems completely out of place. Would change my rating upwards in a heartbeat if I did not feel like there are a couple of things clearly missed, it would seem, out of pure laziness.
Cozy, homely, family and properly chilled. Must say i speak on behalf of the woodlands unit number 1. Dam in front of you, hills in the background. Unit serviced daily The local town of Dullstroom has everything you need and more the you can experience in one visit.Rory.
tranquil, serene, picturesque, mountain getaway just 3hrs drive from Johannesburg.... cool mountain air, warm log fires, horse riding, warm pool, trout fishing, cycle and hiking trails, game viewing and more.... there is quite literally something here for everyone!
"The free roaming wild life and the large number of trout dams "
Roads to location need to be upgraded, we live in the 21st century.Accommodative personell can be improved at reception area. They did not seem very helpful.Millennials want to be connected at all times no matter what, a good idea would be to install fiber at location for entire facility, for the evenings. Overall experience enjoyed the outdoors and would recommend this retreat to friends and family.
If youre looking for a great spot for a weekend away close to Joburg, Dunkeld Country Estate is just perfect. Whether you need something family-friendly or nice and relaxed for a group of friends, theyll be able to cater to your needs. There are loads of activities to do during your stay: fly fishing, horse-riding, archery and quad biking, to mention only a few. Also be sure to book a tour of the trout hatchery! Its really fascinating
Absolutely amazing place.Rooms at dunked were in peak condition and well maintained.Beautiful location with fantastic fishing facilities, there are multiple well stocked dams for rainbow trout fishing.Facilities such as golf cart hire are available for a good price which are convenient for navigating through the large property, and a spa is on the property. The equestrian estate is also prestine and beautifulFood was of decent standard
Amazing area, however the staff don't explain or did not know anything about facilities. Also be careful they don't put you on the other end of estate especially if you paid for bed and breakfast. Good 10 minutes drive to eat.
Beautiful estate filled with activities. Ideal for a break from hectic work schedules. Perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Friendly staff and well maintained facilities
Views - spectacular!Accommodation - very comfortable and neat but quite far from reception, restaurants and other attractions and perhaps detail like this should be made available to guestsStaff / assistance - all very consistently friendly and helpfulFood - menu is rather small but very tasty dishes Jazz bar - not so much of a jazz bar, perhaps they need to look into "jazz bar" entertainment and a start could be playing jazz music in their jazz bar :)Spa - staff very friendly and helpful but I didn't particularly enjoy my treatment and it felt like a glorified rub if I am being completely honestAll around, a great place to get some alone time with your partner. Amazing views, if you not in one of the timeshare apartments, maximize your stay to 2 nights as you'll get bored of the food if any longer. Also, timeshare dude is rather unprofessional by not sticking to appointments he makes with guests. On another note, my car was reversed into while parked in front of reception. No note was left, no CCTV was available and this left a bit of bitter taste in my mouth.
"Lovely setting, peace and quiet"
It would be nice to have two extra chairs in the lounge. Four people can't sit on one sleeping couch. Although bedding was nice and clean, we found some of the kitchen utensils dirty. The shower door can open only half way - a big person will not be able to use the shower. We had a good time and enjoyed our sleepover.
Gorgeous estate in a picturesque location. The restaurant has an extensive variety of exquisite food and well trained and friendly staff.
What an inspirational place! The outside world is banished at the gate while you still have the technology you need. Lovely restaurant and zebras in the yard. Who could ask for more?
A very good and relaxing time was spend. Visited the place in the winter, stock up in wood and keep the inglenook burning. Everyday chalet was kept clean and tidy by friendly staff. Maintenance is a concern. The restaurant is clean and meals are tasty. The braai and the veranda facilities outside where not used. Plenty of entertainment for the youngsters. Some fishponds for the big one who got away and small variety of antilopes. Can be recommended.
Stunningly beautiful Estate with all necessities. Grounds are kept beautifully with game and horses walking around freely. The units are serviced daily and has all you need for a comfortable and relaxing breakaway. Various trout dams on the property to add to the beauty and tranquility as well as keep any trout fisherman occupied. Highly recommended.
Beautiful surroundings. Peaceful, tranquil and quiet. We came here for some much needed healing. Restaurant 1883 served delicious meals at great value!! Unfortunately our stay here got ruined by the Dunkeld Spa. On the day of our arrival, we had booked a massage at the spa for our last day here. When we arrived for our appointment, we were told that they couldn't find our booking and that they were fully booked and couldn't help us. Bitterly disappointed as that was something we were really looking forward to and desperately needed.
