Reviews for Hippo Hollow
Great place to stay before and after going into Kruger! Great value and excellent location. Highly recommended.
Good food, good ambience...and if you are lucky enough...you may spot a hippo or two while enjoying your meal
What a lovely experience. Met for lunch for my sisters birthday and the staff sang to her and presented her with a birthday cake. So touched by the staff and going the extra 10 miles to make her feel special. Thank you.
I love this hotel. Its quirky fun and the hippos do come to graze on the grass at the back of the restaurant!
I visited Hippo Hollow with a friend in July 2018. The rooms are a bit dated but otherwise really nice. The estate is beautiful. The food in the restaurant and the breakfast is better than expected. Really good service too.
Lovely views from the restaurant. The accommodation also looks splendid! Lovely pool area. Staff was friendly and food was good quality! Nice and tranquil atmosphere!
Very clean and comfortable rooms. Staff are well trained and friendly. Excellent location on a river with a great chance of hippo sightings from the restaurant. Very good food on offer.
We had a wonderful time at hippo hollow! The service was excellent - we were greeted promptly with iced tea and didn't have to wait at all. The staff were very courteous. While we were eating lunch we saw elephants walking across the river. We also saw hippos at night! The security was good and there was wifi at the pool and lobby, which was useful. Also - would recommend the show if you get the chance. It was entertaining and the performers are extremely talented!
The hippo hollow country estate is a beautiful hotel with lots of green areas, peacefull pools and great food. The estate sits on the river bed which accomodates hippos and if youre lucky you could see one.The place offers an authentic experience of an african tribal show with mesmerising vocals and acrobatic dancing, its also very funny. We really enjoyed the show, even though it is clearly for tourists. Included with the show is a buffe with a variety of dishes including crocodile tail, impala meat and kudu meat. The food was Delicious and the attention to details and each guest was very clear.Benjamin, the manager was very helpfull and nice with a lot of stories and a huge smile! The rooms are very clean and quite. The whole stuff is very polite and helpfull with every question and request. We really enjoyed our stay!
An amazing estate, access to the elephant sanctuary (Elephant Whispers) where you can spend time with the elephants and a must do activity. We were lucky enough to see a few hippos by the river and felt safe and protected from the deck. Comfy rooms and lovely restaurant with good food and local beer in tap.
We attend a wedding there, was pleasantly surprised by our surroundings! The room had everything in and even the bathroom was very spacious. The reception was by far the best and the food was amazing!
Good food good view good location
"Hippo Hollow stay"
Lovely setting with great staff. The evening menu was good and the food was superb. On our second night we sat in the restaurant and had the delight of watching a hippo on the lawn for about 40 minutes it was lovely. Would recommend to friends.
"Hippo Hollow country estate"
I was overwhelmed by the experience at Hippo Hollow. I was overwhelmed by the staff, the service was excellent, the best compared to service at any other venue I visited on holiday in the last 5 years. The neatness of the venue and the well kept and manicured gardens was great. The rooms were excellent. The food was good. The management really made us feel part of the family and there was no difference in treatment that we received as locals compared to the overseas visitors. Thanks to the staff and management.
