Reviews for Houw Hoek Hotel
We had an event here recently. I absolutely loved the location, scenery and the cleanliness and friendliness of the environment.I had room 46, it was pretty. The curtains were actually very iffy. I did struggle with closing them and even then they weren't closed properly. They're not ideally hung. The beds and sheets were lovely, cozy and warm. The pillow was horrid however. I did not sleep well on this hard pillow, the other attendees also agreed that the pillows sucked.Otherwise, WiFi was a great plus, shower was nice and clean. Amenities were lovely, food and drinks are very pricey though. A can of coke costed me R22.Definitely worth a stay over!
It's indescribable. It's a really wonderful experience. With 2 pools, game room for the kids, play area outside for the little ones and family activities, it's a place for everyone. On the N2 but secluded enough for quiet and privacy. Family rooms also available complete with DStv and a fireplace in each room. Lovely menu with portions that are beyond what you can manage. If you don't want to be outside then the lounges are very comfortable and cosy.
Best experience ever. Beautiful nature friendly staff. Great food. Very affordable for anyone. Very nice rooms. Most beautiful memories made
Perfect venue for teambuild and corporate functions. Friendly & efficient staff. Always ready with a smile. Great service. Excellent meals. Neat accommodation with fireplace in each room. Large lawns and mountain walking trail start on premise
Always such a treat to visit this place! Especially the dinner and dance on a Saturday night! The food is always super tasty! The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are all very luxurious and comfortable! Thank you Houw Hoek Hotel!
Cosy little restaurant. Good food and service. Busy little shop with assorted farm stall produce. Well appointed, comfortable hotel as part of the set-up just down the hill.
Such a lovely setting in the mountains. It is an absolute pleasure to have been there for my colleague's wedding. Staged against the backdrop of cascading mountains and green valleys, Houw Hoek Hotel is a splendid and picturesque place to tie the knot, or simply go for a bite to eat or have a drink. The menu is affordably priced and their staff cater to your needs. I'll definitely be going back there again!
Nice setting. Some maintenance required on outside furniture. Awesome open areas for kids to run. Good service.
Houw Hoek Hotel has a lovely view. The fact that it's child-friendly can be a little frustrating, though... say, you're trying to get away for a romantic break and there are children screaming all around you. Also, the WiFi is also practically non-existent and there is hardly any cellphone network coverage. The hiking trails look top-notch, although we could not experience them due to a wild fire on the mountain behind the hotel. The restaurant is fantastic with great service and an extensive menu.
Great experience. Comfy rooms (block out blinds! It's the little things...), accommodating & friendly staff, lots of things to do for kids (was impressed with the large playground with trampoline, and the small kiddies pool, great fun for my 2 & 4 year old). Food was between good & great, although the coffee was typical hotel coffee (=terrible ). Some of the areas were a little run down/in need of some TLC, like the put-put course, parts of the playground, and the gardens/lawn in general, but we were there out of season, so I think that had something to do with it. We will definitely go back and I highly recommend it.
"Extremely bad service 5 Jan 2017"
A newly wed couple (Mr and Mrs Prior) booked in on 5 January 2017 around 11 pm for their honeymoon night. The service was extremely poor from the security guard at the gate to reception on arrival that night and also from reception staff the next morning, when they reported the bad service the morning of 6 January 2017. The security guard took 5 minutes to open gate with fat from food dripping from his mouth. When Mr and Mrs Prior wanted to order something to drink they were told rudely by receptionist "no you cant have drinks as we don`t serve drinks now". When they complained the next morning to reception they were not even given an apology but also a don`t care `oh okay`. Not acceptable and very disappointing especially for a honeymoon couple. I will place this on Trip Advisor and Hello Peter as well. So by the way I had problems with this booking from the start when I called Houwhoek 2 weeks before 5 Jan 2017 and I was told no payment received for my booking that was paid in October. I had to phone Safari who then sorted it out for me. Ester Van Rensburg. Cel 082 461 6124
