Reviews for Island Hotel
Indian cuisine for the connoisseur
Excellent vibe during the Soweto derby and Currie Cup final
The people working there are not able to advocate for the place to give options when one is doing a booking. The place was extremely noisy for all the time we spent there. There was also no warning on what type of clientele the place caters for. I would not opt for or recommend this place for any of my family.
Lovely family place and cozy enough for a getaway weekend
Venue is great service excellent but food need to be consistent
Food is amazing with good service and excellent prices!
We attended the wedding ceremony of Mbusi and Sindy Phahla. Island Hotel was an absolutely beautiful wedding venue. The Garden wedding was superb. The Wedding reception in the dining Hall was truly exquisite. The buffet food court was very well laid out. The other facilities were perfect. I would rate Island Hotel as a Five Star hotel for a wedding function. Lenny and Linda
Good food and nice bar area. Very busy during lunch, but service is quick.
Excellent food , place historic and close to beach
Historic area Excellent service close to beaches secured area
Not impressed with the beer "garden" it's just a couple of wooden tables with umbrellas over watching the parking lot. We went for the famous mutton curry today and they were sold out. So can only comment on the fish cakes, nice and spicy 7/10 samoosas very average but the crumbed calamari cooked to perfection. However management needs to evaluate the service which was seriously lacking.
Very delicious mutton bunny chow enjoyed comfortable dining facilities.
Went for one of their legendary bunny chow, had the mutton bunny and then a sugar bean bunny for desert was amazing!
we were booked in at the lodge rooms but changed it to executive rooms...no problem to do that....very friendly welcome...rooms comfortble and clean....enjoyd our stay and the lady at the restaurant where we had breakfast gave as excellent service...thank you for all your kindness and good service
"Nice and simple"
I stayed at a room in the lodge which was nice and simple enough for the short amount of time I was there for (business).
Pros: clean, room size not claustrophobic, nice window view, big wall mounted flat screen TV, nice bed and bedding.
Cons: Little things need to be fixed such as the toilet roll holder was broken off and left sitting on the bathroom window, one of the dresser drawers would glide completely open by itself, and a metal spoon by the tea/coffee and kettle would be an improvement instead of a plastic stirring stick.
