Reviews for La Petite Ferme
Amazing views and great food. Wide selection of wines and alcohol. Service is fair
Interesting food in a beautiful setting serene and tranquil. The newly revamped rooms look really nice and inviting.
We went for a wine tasting and cheese platter. The views are outstanding and the wines were the best we tasted during our stay in the winelands! I would definitely recommend this winery for the wine tasting. They were very knowledgeable and the service was excellent.
Great views from the inclosed porch, but not sufficiently heated. We received appetizer that was lightly warmed. The main course was delicius.
Five star meals and wine. Staff super helpful and attentive. That said, undertones of colonialism are definitely present in the atmosphere.
Great. Delicious food. Not expensive. Amazing
As always. Great food, service and atmosphere. And stunning views
I am a huge fan of Le Petite Ferm. The 5 star part of the rating-----------------------------------------------The food is always exquisite - starters and mains. The staff are friendly and helpful and the setting is beautiful and wonderfully warm near the fire in winter. They also have a lovely selection of their own wines and when you feel like getting away to a little slice of heaven there accommodation is luxurious. The 3 star part of the rating-----------------------------------------------The only thing that I believe could be improved on is their desserts. We had the malva pudding which in itself was very good, the accompanying cardamom custard was overpowering and the guava "thing" - I can't remember what you call it, it was nice but not amazing.
Wow. First time visit with USA guests and LA Petite Ferme did not let me down. Food and Service and surroundings were magnificent. Thank you so much for this experience.
Loved the food and the view of the valley below. We sat outside with the wind blowing in the tall trees and enjoyed our starters.
We had dinner here on our last night in South Africa, the location is great, wonderful views over the Franschoek valley. The wine was produced in the winery and is excellent. The menu was local and well though out. All the food was excellent and the icing on the cake was the service - thank you so much
During our holiday to South Africa my brother decided to bring myself & husband to La Petite Ferme for lunch following a fantastic previous experience with his wife. The surrounding view of the valley, beautifully kept gardens & decor greeted us for what we had hoped would be an amazing dining experience! The menu was a little daunting as we were unsure as to the ingredients each dish consisted of but in the end settled for slow roasted lamb, in itself absolutely beautiful, but accompanying ingredients more of an artistic design than what my husband & brother's appetite required - 4 prunes, 4 of the tiniest amount of piped mash potato I have ever seen plus the tiniest amount of creamed vegetable. Having ordered 3 X lamb plus a fish dish for my sister-in-law (each main course R280+) our food arrived only to find our 3 lamb had been replaced with a game dish so instead of eating together as a family we waited while my sister-in-law had to eat alone. Because the policy was a minimum of two courses we chose to have dessert - again a beautiful work of art, but the tiniest amount of food, again tastes not to our liking, resulting in my husband refusing to even try what was placed in front of him!! Mine was equally unappealing so both were returned to the kitchen! Our waitress was so apologetic & the manageress came for feedback as to what had gone wrong? - and removed the 4 desserts from the bill which we appreciated. My brother was so stressed by the whole experience, especially as we had travelled from the Southern suburbs, approx. 2 hours drive!! I can only recommend this as a restaurant where food is an expensive "art" experience & not a place to come to fulfill an appetite.
Great food, excellent service . I was unsure, from reviews, whether this would prove successful. But we enjoyed a super lunch. Not haute cuisine, but good, interesting , well cooked food. We will be back for my wife's birthday shortly !
Very sorry to say so, but equally sorry to have spent a fair sum of money, we were not impressed by the food. It was bland and simply ok at best (of course keeping in mind the price)... the view is of course stunning and the staff seemed fine, yet not incredibly sympathetic. But if the food doesnt meet standards then those things dont weigh on the experience. We had two other stunning meals in the valley and this simply didnt compare in our opinion.
"Very freindly, well run establishment."
Very freindly, well run establishment.Where peace and quality are the standards set by Peter and his wife.Very enjoyable time and would not hesitate to return or reccommend to one of my freinds
