Reviews for Once in Joburg
The reception staff are so welcoming make you feel at ease, very helpful big ups. Young and fresh. Your prices are reasonable not that i'm saying you must go high.Thank You.
it is a beautiful place with amazing people that work there. they are very friendly and always helpful. it was extremely tidy which i liked and overall it impressed for the amount i had to pay it was worth every cent
I enjoyed the pub tour which was run by this accommodation as I have never expected to be able to go out at night in Johannesburg. There were nice pubs and good beers. The hostel itself is also very good. They have wide and clean common space with some view. The bed was wide enough and clean with consent. Now I feel I should have stayed at the accommodation little bit longer.
This is a lovely place, close to restaurants, banks and within walking distance of Gautrain Park Station terminal. Clean and cozy. I wish they could have bigger lockable cabinets to store valuables.Otherwise great place worth considering, when you hit these shores. Very popular indeed.
The front desk staff are absolutely wonderful at Once in Joburg. We only stayed one night and I felt like I was constantly bugging them with questions and requests (regarding laundry, tours, etc etc). The room and bathroom were great, no complaints - it was one of the most comfortable budget conscious places we stayed while in country in winter. The breakfast was simple but free and filling. The area can be loud at night (at least on the weekend), earplugs are provided (good quality ones). The neighborhood is great, especially for the young and/or adventuresome. The district has a lively nightlife, a great Saturday market, and is very close to Wits university.
It was really awesome to stay at your hotel. The hotel is well organized, neat and safe. The cost of staying at your hotel is reasonable. It's the place I would prefer to stay at.
It appears this was once a hotel, which I suppose is fine, but it shows its flaws in the dorm setting. I stayed one night in a four-bed dorm and arrived very late. What the dorm looks like in the dark is four beds, one bunk bed and two twin beds next to each other, in very close proximity. It was more intimate than the average South African backpackers dorm and therefore hard to sleep in, but your results may vary. I didnt see much but the hostel itself looked very cool, as did the neighborhood.

Thank you very much for hosting us. We had a great time in Jozi and at ONCE. The rooms were clean and spacious. Staff always helpful and friendly. Breakfast at the Immigrant was delicious.
Once in Joburg was one of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed at! I could go on and on about the amazing plush beds, the ultra modern design, the cleanliness, the ease to go anywhere in Johannesburg from this central location, the plethora of shops and restaurants surrounding the hostel or the free exquisite breakfasts! I am however not going to go on and on about all those things but rather give praise to the most hospitable staff I have ever been received by! The staff at Once in Joburg truly are at your disposal to assist you with anything you need! They arranged for me to join there temporary international staff to go to the apartheid museum free of charge! I was also able to join the bike tour of Soweto for a discounted rate and they gave me very valuable information about Johannesburg and how to manauver the city! I will definitely be back to Johannesburg and when I do I will 100% be staying at Once in Joburg! Loved the hostel and the staff! Thank you guys for making my stay even more memorable!
Once in Joburg Hotel has become my second home, anytime I am in Joburg either for business meetings or long-term project monitoring, I am more comfortable staying in Once in Joburg Hotel compared to any other hotel around Joburg. The staff are exceptionally friendly, and hospitable. There's never a dull moment, what I like most about the hotel is the positive impression and ambience it creates for people from outside Africa about Africa. I have met and interacted with people from all walks of life at Once in Joburg Hotel, This is the hotel that speaks your language, wherever you are from and whatever language you speak, it will amaze you to find someone or people at Once in Joburg Hotel who would make your stay a memorable and enjoyable one. It is the meeting place of the world, a very good hotel to network and make real connections with real people from different corners of the world. I have had pleasant experience from the hotel, the staff would go the extra mile to make their guests comfortable, safe and secure. and I always look forward to my next visit.
Friendly vibes, makes it very easy to meet people. choice of activities going on that people engaged with, easy to approach.Accommodation very good, breakfast in the neighbouring bar quite limited (bagel + piece of fruit). Very good location for central Joburg nightlife and constitution hill nearby, anything else an easy taxi journey.
Too good. Yeah... too good. Once in Joburg does not have to be this good. It's basically a 4 star hotel, but you share rooms. Incredible, I have never seen anything like it. Puts all other hostels to shame.Outstanding.
I enjoyed the pub tour which was run by this accommodation as I have never expected to be able to go out at night in Johannesburg. There were nice pus and good beers. The hostel itself is also very good. They have wide and clean common space with some view. The bed was wide enough and clean with consent. The staff were all very helpful each day of our trip. They provided us with several fun, exciting, and unique activity suggestions. The hostel is located near a large university and the neighborhood felt very safe and young. The room was clean and modern. Once In Joburg is the perfect combination a hotel + hostel. I would most definitely recommend this location to other travelers.
