Reviews for Royal Hotel
My family enjoyed a lovely lunch here. The Restaurant is neat and cosy with a relaxing atmosphere. Friendly service. I would definitely go back there.
Comfortable rooms, food fine. Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. Nice stay.
Absolutely loved staying at the Royal Hotel. Very friendly staff who certainly know how to keep travellers happy. Food is brilliant. A little bit of something for everyone. Undercover parking. Braai facilities available to order, Fresh clean linen every day. Delicious coffee. Certainly affordable. Wi-Fi available 24/7. Bikers welcome too.
Stayed in a guest house and had dinner at the hotel. Went into the bar to find service for the restaurant. They allow people to smoke in the bar and I could smell it in the restaurant. Ordered a curry from the menu, which they did not have. The lamb stew was great. After getting my food the waitress disappeared and I could not get the Malva pudding I was looking forward to. I was the only patron there. Appalling service.
A very different experience. Worth a visit. Nice to go in a crowd.
Quaint little village. Hotel staff very polite, coffee and muffin good.
A magnificent hotel situated in Steytlerville, the decor inside hotel is very impressive indeed, the service we got at Hotel was very good and food is also very good. The Theatrical show that we attended happens every Saturday and is excellent Well worth a trip to Steytlerville Loved every minute of it and Jacque and Mark known as the Steytlerville Follies are most definitely worth a watch The only complaint i did have is because of the high ceilings inside Hotel ... it is freezing, (winter) so be sure to take along some warm clothing . Enjoy if ever you go along to The Steytlerville Hotel
Only place to have a rest. Slow and not so committed service. Food not to be sent back. Overall....the best alternative, if any
Highly reccommended. Stayed the night on an unscheduled stopover. Extremely helpful staff. Clean and well appointed. Great atmosphere.
Cold beer when the road gets too long and the kids too busy. Perfect break!
Nice place to pay a visit Nice food Thanks
Nice warm and friendly staff. Feels like home. I'll come back again.
A beautiful old hotel. A standard stop on er for bikers traversing the Baviaanskloof as well as the normal traveler. Service is the usual country standard, so don't be in a hurry. The rooms are decent if you want to stay over. It can get exceptionally hot here so be prepared. The food is hearty and you won't leave hungry.
Very neat setup with friendly staff and good food. Nice Oasis in the Karoo on a hot day
I arrived at the Royal on Sunday 3 Jan and was warmly received as I was a returning guest and pleasantries where exchanged. At 16:00 I ordered and enjoyed a toasted sandwich on the front verandah as I had not had lunch yet.The young lady that was on duty that day asked me if that was to be my supper and I replied that it was just a snack and that I would return later for my supper.I returned to the verandah at 19:00 to order my dinner only to find that everything was closed and the young lady was busy locking up the bar area. She informed me that the kitchen closes at 19:00 on a Sunday.Needless to say I was flabbergasted and she was very apologetic and offered to whip something up for me.I respectfully declined as I was not certain what sort of a dish a waitress/barmaid would be able to prepare in a "closed" kitchen. What annoyed me even more was that when I related the story to the manageress the following morning, no apology or explanation was offered. To top it all, there was no bacon in stock in the kitchen for breakfast.A total disappointment after my first visit to the Royal which I enjoyed tremendously
The Royal Hotel is not for those looking for the peace and quiet of a quaint Karoo village. Steytlerville is a lovely town to wander around and to stoep sit. Unfortunately a few issues with the Royal Hotel dampened the experience. The Royal Hotel advertises itself as a bed and breakfast. However rates do not include breakfast.Royal Hotel provided us a quote through SafariNow which we accepted after querying that it was correct. Only on our day of arrival were we informed that they had actually misquoted us and we still owed them money. Management took no interest in providing an explanation for the misquote or taking responsibility for their error.Royal Hotel advertise WiFI which in fact is not available for guests. Our satellite connection on the room TV was lost. Despite reporting this to management they were not interested in attending to the problem.A group of families renting out the self containment units would braai and socialise outside the Hotel rooms, using chairs meant for our room and made it difficult to access your room or have any privacy.
