I had my birthday lunch at La Colombe last week. Couldn't have asked for a better way to indulge my senses on their 12 course menu. Everything tasted perfect and looked perfect. The drive in is breathtaking and the food takes you on another sensory trip. I fully recommend a visit to La Colombe.

Eat out did not give them number one even thou they are. Food that blow your mind. Staff that will make you feel at home and I can not fault one thing. Best fine dinning restaurant in South Africa and one of the best in the world!

Had a delicious lunch here two days ago. The food was very good and some of the dishes were absolutely perfect. However the main courses were only ok (both proteins could have been more tender) and when the restaurant got really busy Service got a little bit slow. However besides that the service is really great and everyone was very friendly and attentive. I also had one of the best desserts Ive ever had in the form of a cheese course. It had this amazing Gouda served 2 ways and pecans served three ways along with some rhubarb and pickled onion.

Amazing restaurant with incredible food! From the moment you walk in and your palette is cleansed to when they give you the garden sweet box, the food doesn't disappoint. The presentation of the food and planning is so excellent and it feels like a great theatre piece, and I wouldn't say that lightly as a theatre maker myself. I had an amazing evening

I recommend this restaurant. Its a all experience since you start driving the hill. Great staff, our server Felipe was exceptional. They can fix the menu if you are sensitive or allergic to some food. The view from the dining room is astonishing, all white with big windows to outside. 100 percent recommend. Reservations are a must. They have their own GIN that you have to try.

A warm welcome and a taste of things to come starts right at the door with a literally bursting palate cleanser. Each and every serving was out of this world with taste and presentation. The waiters are very knowledgable and attentive, but not intrusive. The 'winter special' is well worth it!

The food is creatively prepared and delicious. Le Colombe is an incredible dining experience. Just be sure to budget enough time for the experience; we were there for over 3 hours.

La Colombe is outstanding! An expensive experience that is worth every penny. The staff treat you with such care and kindness, you feel like you've know each other for forever! They explain all the food as it comes out and answer all questions with ease. The food is phenominal, flavours and colours I have never tasted and seen before! Highly recommend this restaurant!

The restaurant is in such a beautiful place and with a relaxed and relaxing environment. Its actually pleasant to spend the 3 hours there enjoying the beautiful and tasteful food! Our waiter happened to be son from Portuguese immigrants and he made the effort to speak Portuguese to us all the time. Making it a even more intimate experience! Also he was really kind and gave us some nice tips about where to find the best wines in the town! Awesome service!

Amazing. My words can't do it justice so won't even attempt to. Food, wine, service, location all top notch. One of the best meals of the year. Go try it!

I very rarely give anyone 5 stars. You have to be really outstanding to get that. With La Colombe there should actually be 7 stars. With no doubt in my mind I can say that this was the very best eating experience of my life. The venue was amazingly perched on the side of a mountain, the staff were incredibly friendly and removed any ounce of pretentious notions, and finally the food.... no words can describe the delacacy and presentation. The love and attention that the chef put into was clearly present, and it came across as a performance. And the surprise was incredible and highly entertaining. If you are in Cape Town, this is definitely a required visit.

Don't bother to come. I suspect the other good reviews are fake.Terrible ambience. Total waste of time. Poor and slow service. Only redeeming quality was the view from the drive up. You will only have a nice table if you are white. Food wise it looks presentable but the taste is very discordant. The presentation is original but I dont feel that the flavours are complementary.Wine list is good but that doesn't make a restaurant. So overall I would say - poor service, average food, ambience depends to where they seat you. And this can really spoil a meal. Especially if you are celebrating a special occasion.

"Absolutely Fantastic"

My wife and I moved from Pretoria to Cape Town and stayed at Silvermist for 3 months (Mar-Apr-May 2007) while we were looking for a house. We stayed in Ridge Lodge, a 2BR cottage that included a lounge with two couches, television, coffee table, dining room, fireplace, and a small but fully functional kitchen. There are a handful of cottages on the property, all unique in construction but similar in feel.Silvermist was very accommodating to our needs. They provided us with an extra small table for our computer (within a day of asking for it), and even added extra shelving for us in the broom closet next to the fridge (within two weeks of asking for it) so we could have more space for food, etc.It was a bit of a unique situation in that we were actually living there for a few months, but I would imagine even staying there for a weekend would be awesome. The view is incredible, the cottages very private, and it's 10 minutes from central Hout Bay, 10 minutes from Kirstenbosch, and 10 minutes from the Constantia shopping centre. We used the outdoor braai often, which was in a private garden area overlooking the valley. The cottage was serviced daily, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. A short walk away is Constantia Nek, where you can hike up Table Mountain - it's easier than it sounds and the views are unbelievable. All around it was a very positive experience and I'd recommend it to anyone.
