Reviews for Smilin Thru Eco Resort
Worst ever. Dirty. No covers on duvet. Spider webbs everyehere. No water in shower.
Had my sister's 50th birthday there we lost most of the food for the weekend as there was no power and the generator didnt alway run when they said it would. No hot water as the gas geysers didn't work properly. In time i think they will get the place up and running as it seems like they are trying to get the place back up and running.
I was bitterly disappointed with this resort. The pictures on the website look nothing like the actual resort. These pictures could only have been taken when the resort was in its prime. The resort was very run down with very little in the chatets actually functional. The animals on the property were in a despicable condition with absolutely no food. I will not recommend this resort to anyone in fact I would recommend that you do not even consider driving through the gates!
We got there and they had no electricity so couldn't accommodate us (8 people!). However we booked and paid in full months before. More than a month later I still don't have a refund and they just ignore me now.
Totally discarding of the fact that the electricity was out almost the entire weekend, which none of us have any controll over, I would recommend this place to anyone. The staff was always friendly and helpfull. Though we were there in winter time most of the resort was cleaned uo and in a neat condition. See you again in summer time
Camp site and weekend very enjoyed. The lower terrace at river side are the best spots due to shading. Upper terrace are not covered enough with trees but still good conditions. The ablution at lower terrace definitely needs attention, no warm water after a few people showered. Overall nice camp site.
I went to Smilin Thru on the long weekend of the 26th of April as part of a group to shoot music videos for my school's music group. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with the warmest hospitality I could ever have imagined from resort owners. They made an effort to be part of everything we did and became part of the family. Their beautiful grounds were a great setting for the videos. They came to our rescue in the kitchen when we needed it and anything else that we needed we could only ask and it happened almost immediately. We had the privilege to sing with some of the artists who performed on Saterday, which was arranged by Lee-Ann, manager of the resort. They lit a bonfire especially for us and we could thank them by singing to them and we shot some of the footage there. One of the amazing ladies there made every girl of our group a beautiful hand-made headband which we wil all cherish forever. We got to meet the crew and made new friends. The owner took us on a tour and taught us about all of the animals on the premises, we even got to meet Mona, the little Pekengese, which is just as friendly as the other animals(and my favorite pet there) . They don't see the animals as just that, they see them as family and that is truly amazing. They even take care of the environment with what they do with the fish. Their restaurant makes the best Milkshakes ever and the prices are reasonable. We lived in the hotel for the weekend and I have to say there is absolutely no reason to complain about anything. Even the ladies at reception were super friendly and had part in our fun when they weren't busy. This resort is really a great place and extremely family friendly. I will definitely go again with my entire blood family, so that they can meet my new resort family. Thank you Morne and Lee-Ann and every other worker of the resort for the amazing experience that I could have, it was truly awesome! You guys are amazing people who I have come to loveMe and my family will definitely see you again soon.Lots of LoveChant (the jokers or the group) from the Harmonique group •
Nice and peaceful in the middle of the week. Lower terrace camp grounds have decent grass.River is close and there is the option of fishing. There is a swimming pool with a zip line, as well as a slip n slide right into the river. The sand road is full of stones so not particularly well suited to small cars/low profile tyres.
called for booking ... said i should book online the next day went online the next day to book couldn't book online phone them explaining that i asked if i can book said no Gwen put the phone down in my ear thank you for your nice service
Probably not the most peaceful weekend we could have gone with a cable marathon using the resort as a half way point. The majority of the camping sites are well maintained, water and power points are nearby. And the restaurant/bar was welcome thanks to the crazy storms over the weekend.
Had some great fishing, stands are ok but resort needs some upgrading. Seems to be underway, so will wait a while and try again. Very quiet and relaxing.
Needs some more work but they are actually improving the facilities. It is worth a visit. If you're camping book a riverfront or lower terrace stand. The staff is extremely friendly and helpfull. I will defenately come again.
