Reviews for Sugar Shack
What a pathetic place - Monday morning we go for breakfast - then we have to hear how we are discussed in the kitchen - and finally we are seated. Tuesday evening we go for supper only to find that they are closing for the evening. Thursday i go to book for supper - only to be told that my six year son is not allowed. Would have thought that Reuben endorsed a welcome atmosphere in his Restaurants!
"A piece of paradise "
I loved how kitted our the kitchen was with everything you needed right there. The decor and use of space was great too.
Nice enough just had greater expectations
Our favourite place for a lovely lunch!! The ambiance, wonderful food, attentive service, and menu selection is outstanding. Really worth a visit.
This review is long overdue!! We had the most spectacular wedding reception evening at Reubens in January 2018! All of the staff were fabulous and the lovely Leigh just made our evening everything that it was. She even brought me to tears as she just made the evening so spectacular for us - I didn't have to worry about a thing! The food was spectacular and the setting just beautiful! We had the whole of the covered decking area to ourselves, which was lovely as speaches could take place and the area just felt perfect for us! Relaxed, intimate and lovely! The biggest thank you to everyone at Reubens! We will be back when we next visit Paternoster! Thank you, thank you, thank you! An evening we will never forget! X x
suburb meal and setting great service my only winge it lacked atmosphere
Very relaxing atmosphere. Delicious wine and food. Excellent service.
HI Reuben, last night I took very special friends from Kimberley to your restaurant Reuben's at Abalone house. I booked for 6 p.m for 9 people but what a horrible experience. From the time we walked in your manager, Anthony apologised that they were still setting up. Half the table did not have napkins then half of us were given one menu and the other half was given a different menu. When I pointed it out...no apology was forthcoming, he simply went and printed different menus. Then with the mains no one enjoyed their meat...the fat on the duck was not rendered properly and the manager looked surprised when I pointed out that there was no roasted chestnuts on the plate. The gammon steak was extremely salty. Three people had chalmer beef and they were very different sizes. The worst was the butter chicken that was tasteless and arrived with yoghurt...and no coriander or Apple chutney. When I asked about the coriander..I waited about 10 mins and then I was given a bowl of yogurt with ground coriander that smelt like nothing. When I spoke to the manager he said that it was not his fault but the kitchen and he accused me of shouting at him which I did not do. He was completely unapologetic at first and only after I refused to eat anything else...did he eventually come back to our table and apologise. Our evening was completely ruined and I was embarrassed that I sugested we go there at all. I cannot believe that is your restaurant. Regards Karen Decimoa
The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and accommodating of our requests. The area is tastefully decorated with a beautiful ambiance and the meals are well presented. My meat was fantastically tender, but overall everyone at my table felt slightly underwhelmed by the flavours, possibly our expectations of the famous Reuben's brand were too high. I will, however, happily come back because the overall experience was very good.
Coffee very averageFood good, but not value for money. Way overpriced for average food. Reuben needs to bring this restaurant up to the level of his others or drop the prices. We were the only diners during the lunch seating.
Wonderful hotel, incredible breakfast - they didn't even charge our ravenous children for their full continental breakfast. Service impeccable and the hostess extremely knowledgeable and welcoming - thank you guys - we will be back!
"Idyllic Paternoster Beach House"
We spent 3 nights at Sugar Shack in Paternoster with our little pup. It is the perfect little beach house and exactly what I had hoped it would be. The first day was incredibly windy, so we were grateful for the sheltered entertainment area. The second day was spectacular weather-wise, so we took advantage of the house's proximity to the beach and the top deck for epic views and star gazing. Would definitely go back.
