Reviews for The Edge Mountain Retreat
"The view, oh my word the view. "
We arrived with the clouds so low we could see only about ten metres ahead. Our cottage Pear was lovely and warmed by an oil heater and wood stove. Supper in the restaurant in front of a roaring fire soothed my soul. The next day the sun came out to chase the clouds away and revealed a spectacular view. The Edge is an amazing place to stay.
A positively wondrous viewing sight(and restaurant) for the edge of Hogsback. I went on a first date there and it was "the best first date" my partner had been on.
"Horrible drive to the Edge"
I Traveled from Drakensberg area. Only received invoice with warning not to follow GPS on arrival after already drove terrible road. will help if warning is included on Safari documents
Absolutely lovely service. For lunch as well as dinner really great. They have weird closing times though, so keep that in mind.
Did not want to leave this breathtakingly beautiful mountain 'edge'! Cottages are very comfortable with a lovely warm fireplace for that cold hogsback night! Staff were very friendly and accommodating! Gift shop was lovely to visit! The dinner and breakfast were delicious! An excellent place to spend a honeymoon!
We went to see the labyrinth and its beautiful. We went to view the edge, magnificent views! Absolutely gorgeous. We did not stay at the place but we had supper. The food is okay, the service is good but the prices are high. We will definitely be coming back to stay for a weekend
What a beautiful setting! The perfect place for a honeymoon or just to get away! The staff are amazing! The food is exquisite! So quiet all that can be heard is nature! Absolutely beautiful and excellent value for money!
One of the most romantic spots imaginable, with spectacular views into the valley and of waterfalls. But also suited to families and anyone looking for natural beauty and good food. When we were there the mist came in and the gardens and labyrinth looked very mysterious; an excuse to get the fire going in our cottage.
We spent the weekend in THE PEAR for Leon and Annemie's wedding and loved it. We will be back but this time I am hoping to stay in HEAVEN'S VIEW. The meals were great, that salmon with poached egg breakfast is out of this world. Great Cappuccinos too. The staff were excellent and the all the catering for the wedding was top notch... I can't remember when is the last time I actually enjoyed the food at a wedding so much.
As always Hogsback and it's tranquil setting will welcome anyone! Thank you to the staff of The Edge who made it superb!
Absolutely stunning views. Cottage was lovely and private, well stocked with what one might need. The staff was very friendly and willing to help. Definitely would return.
The wait was long, but worth the while. Excellent food all round. The ribs are to die for! The mint lamb pie was also very good, balanced flavors, well cooked pastry. Everything had a fresh & authentic feel to it, including the hand cut chips. Maybe order ahead to save some time... Service was excellent and our waiter Lungi was attentive & courteous. Good coffee too
