We had the most wonderful experience here at the hotel. The staff went above and beyond with their customer service. They were so accommodating, sincere and thoughtful. For every request, whether it be a dinner recommendation, excursions, etc..they helped every step of the way. The views from Room (Room 32) were beautiful. We listened to the whales at night and the waves crashing. Lindford at the front desk was very helpful-as well as the other staff. Accommodations and location are just wonderful. Easy access to restaurants, and the rest of the town. It was clean, comfortable and they istened to our requests. We would love to stay here again in the future!
Lovely upmarket hotel situated in the centre of Hermanus. Close to all the Restaurants and activities.I recommend this establishment.
Good location. Poor food. Staff were generally very helpful and friendly...but not the manager.Eggs benedict was poor...and heard the next table complain as well. Coffee was below average. Menu is small and uninteresting. No dinner served.Room was spacious, modern, clean and comfortable. Room included a kitchenette with toaster, microwave, fridge and basic crockery. Some minor renovations needed (e.g. rust on shower fixtures).
Still one of the best in Hermanus, but rooms allover in need of some serious maintenance and upgrading. You cannot charge this rates an everything is not perfect. Also not as clean as it should be. I know this was a crises time with not enough staff on duty, but had the same impression staying here in March 2018. You have the view, but that can only take you so far.........
Extremely disappointed in our stay!! We arrived and they had trouble with staff, our room was disgustingly dirty. There was long black hair all over the bathroom and room floor. We took pictures, nothing was wiped down, things like this gross me out completely. I think its unexpectedly to not clean a hotel room and let new geusts in!!!!! The restaurant closed at 3 the afternoon so we had to leave in the cold with the children to go look for a restaurant. The room service was unavailable. Overall extremely disappointed and will never return. Hygiene is none existent!!!

Great location but room needs some TLC. Booked a "Romantic Room" for a little extra but no romantic amenities...Breakfast was very standard, nothing wow. Breakfast service staff very uninterested. No assistance at check out with luggage which is opposite to check in experience...consistency? Management not visible, although some guy stands at reception on his mobile seems more there to mother the 6 staff standing at the desk. Anyway, stayed but not again. A little disappointed for what we paid.
Harbour House Hotel really offers something for everyone and their new wing rooms are gorgeous with stunning ocean views! For the budget sensitive guests, the Studio Gallery apartments are small and intimate with a small but we'll stocked kitchenette. Fantastic location in the centre of town within walking distance of all major tourist attractions, shops and restaurants.
This hotels success solely relies on its prime location and swimming pool facility. Other than that, they seem to lack in many departments. I dont think it will be prudent to over indulge in our own experience, as personal experience often is a consequence of unique circumstances. Id rather summarize below:Reception staff unhelpful, dont care attitudeNo turndown service at evening time (dirty tea cups not replaced)Staff seem incompetentStaff extremely loud at timesDrain smell in roomRoom floors stainedAll in all, not worth the extremely high rate as you walk out feeling you didnt get your moneys worth from the whole experience.
Birthday surprise gone wrong.TL;DR: bad service and very expensive!!!!My boyfriend and I visited the Harbour house hotel on the 17th of March. I wanted to surprise him for his birthday so I went ahead and made the reservation in January already.Unlike any other hotel that we have visited the full amount had to be payed by the 17th of February.... A month before check in. First warning sign.While making the reservation I spoke to Patience. Patience never answers the phone and she is also never available when phoning HHH, the only way we could communicate was via e-mail. Is she a robot? Or does she work really strange hours? The second warning sign.When phoning HHH I could speak to other staff members (not Patience) about the rooms. They were clueless. They couldn't tell me which room would be best? They did not even know the room names. On the website it said there was a hottub, when asking them about this, they had no clue. The third warning sign...Despite these warnings... I went ahead and booked the room with Patience via e-mail. I told her it was a special occasion and that it was my boyfriend's birthday... She said she would organise champagne and brownies in the room for us. I saw pictures of other guests special rooms with champagne, chocolates and the word "smile" written in rose peddels. I thought that it would be special if they could do the same for us. Little did I know...The check in time at this hotel is al 3pm! And the check out time at 11am! That is a pretty late check in for the price you are paying to stay there. I asked Patience if we could check in earlier as we want to spend the day there. The answer was no. But we are welcome to lay by the pool. I have to say, the pool is the main attraction to this place. If it wasn't for that pool I don't think the hotel would have many guests.We arrived at HHH at about 12:30. Went to reception. They were not happy to see us! Told us we could go to the pool. They didn't show us to the pool. We had to find it ourselves. They said they will call us when the room is ready. Of course Patience was no where in sight. Unfortunately the weather was really unpleasant and we were sat in the wind outside for 2 hours. When we started noticing other guests were checking in, we went to reception and asked them if the room is ready. Suddenly there were other staff at reception and he did not know any thing about us waiting to check in. He did not know about the birthday surprise either. Finally we can go to our room! What a let down. Stained carpets and floors, old couches... no "smile", chocolates or champagne. Next up my boyfriend and I get our bags from the car. I pack way to much by the way. But no one helps us carry the bags. They watch him struggling up the stairs but no helped offered.I ask the receptionist about the "surprise" and he said the will speak the Patience. They did eventually bring us brownies, but im not sure I want to eat them.While trying to relax in our room, we where bothered by the staff's loud talking and chatting the afternoon away.The fact of the matter is, it is not about the "surprise" it is about how you treat your guests (Taking in mind the price they payed for a one nights stay). This is our first visit here and most definitely our last. I would not recommend this hotel to any one, unless you are looking for a day by the pool.
nice hotel with friendly stuff, the bar at the swimming pool is very nice and the food is good. they got very nice beer. rooms are clean, comfortable and big. We also had a small kitchen with oven, fridge, microwave, dishes, etc... location is perfect
We just walked in and asked for a room, because we gave up the former accommodation (Hortensia Lodge) and we got a luxury suite for 2700R per night. It has been a good alternative to the Lodge (which is of course not comparable). The Suite was quite nice, with two room, a large balcony with sea view in two directions (from the third floor). There was a kitchen and very nice Bathroom (in room tub, shower and toilet separated). The room got very cold at night, so we had to run the heater all night long. There has been a nescaf-capsules-machine in the Kitchen (but no capsules).The breakfast was very good.The Infinity-Pool is right next to the street and rather small.This Hotel seems more than it is, but is was okay.
Had a fantastic stay here. Super close to the famous Hermanus cliffs for wale watching, and withing walking distance of many shops and restaurants. There's also covered parking for your car. We had excellent service from the concierge and room attendants, and spent two comfortable nights here.Nice breakfast was also included.
