Reviews for The Highland Cottage At Critchley
Signage is not great. Didn't seem very clean. Staff is friendly though. There is also no security which is so bad for such a centralized business.
Lovely to be able to catch your trout and have it prepared by the professional chef and the friendly staff.
Great hospitality ,accommodation and food. Well located in Dullstroom and close to everything.Set around a lovely little trout dam which gives a tranquil ambience. Friendly and helpful staff and a lovely lodge to either relax or explore Dullstroom and surrounds.
The lodge was very nice as you walk in and pieceful. Comparing this lodge to the three others we stayed in and there location this one only deserved 3 stars.Pros: very piece area with a pretty lake and animals, the architecture was great.Cons: if you are staying in some of the builds away from the main lodge none of the lights are on at night so you cant. restaurant was closed before 5 this might have been because its the off season. The rooms, the beds need to be updated, inside locks are broken at least in our room.
Be warned if you stayed here a year ago or before dont book again it has been a disappointment from previous experiences. Booking wrong was shifted to alternative accommodation self catering was promised same service didnt get it. Sent an email to complain still waiting for a response the remote to the property broken and was left stranded. It was repaired and I was charged a reduced rate. The dustbin was not cleaned out and contained left over food from previous occupants. Pillows and linen sub standard. Hygiene levels need to be improved. Was told I would receive a turn down service but was informed that they had no access yet some one did the dishes did not make beds or anything else. Watch bills and change the staff make mistakes.
Our visit to Critchley Hackle was absolutely amaizing. From the beauty of the area,to the place it's self was a wonderful experience. From the owner to the all the staff,we were made to feel very welcome. Most recommended to anyone passing through. We will be back.
Critchley Common Village was a home away from home. All the modern luxuries from home. Very peaceful & quiet & within walking distance from everything. We will definitely be back again.
Great hospitality and service, well stocked trout dam in tranquil setting
Spent the most glorious of days here. Great red wine, glorious food, spectacular views and a roaring fire. The staff that hosted use we're friendly and willing to assist us every step of the way. And the food, oh my word, the food is AMAMZING!!!!!

So pretty and relaxing. Will definitely come back in Winter.
"Lovely weekend stop"
Beautiful location and charming cottage. All around great stay. Bathroom heater would be welcome addition. Some extra firelighters or kindling would be great too as fire was difficult to start.
generally greatcould have refreshed tea station in the room for second night
