Reviews for The Nest Drakensberg
Staff are friendly enough. Setting is nice. Good views. Nice area for a walk to the river. The property looks like not much has happened in the last 10 years. All the awards proudly displayed on the walls are from between 10 and 14 years ago. They should probably come down. It's clean enough and the rooms are fine.2 nights is probably enough here. Seems like the older generation love this place with its 3 bowling greens and fairly new clubhouse.
Staff was awesome, food was great. This will definitely become a family favorite. Keep up the great work.
Beautiful, stunning place. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The food is fantastic and beautifully presented. Would highly recommend The nest to anyone who needs a good quiet rest.
I thought I was arrived at a American holiday camp in the '70' s. The bell was ringed for dinner. It looked like the movie "dirty dancing". The rooms were clean but very outdated. The beds were comfortable and the shower perfect. The staff was very friendly and the food was good. The view from the hotel is excellent. I enjoyed my stay, but 2 nights is enough.
Great hospitality, if you're planning to visit Drankensberg, The Nest is the best accomodation. The staff is amazing, it was my birthday and everyone seemed to acknowledge that. Delicious food
We had an awesome time at The Nest, a beautiful, well maintained Hotel that has beautiful scenery of majestic mountains, top class facilities. The food was excellent, fine dining quality. The staff was very friendly, helpful and took care of us. We will definitely be going back to the Nest.
Great place but service was very poor. Waiters are unfriendly one of them just walked away while taking an order. Quailty of the food was not so great either. I would rather go to a self catering place and save the money. They also canceled our booking for some reason. I would go back but not to the Nest. Also don't drink the water.
Wonderful place with great food and a great vibe! We stayed at the Nest for the weekend and we loved it. The only negative thing is the smoke because fields are burnt near by but this problem will be at any hotel or guest room in the area.
We visited The Nest in the July school holidays with friends. We were a group of 9 with 5 kids 10 and under. We booked on a special and did not pay "normal" rates. For us it was very good value for money. The service at the resort was a highlight and all our requests were met. The resort is located close to other attractions in the area. Both adults and kids enjoyed the resort. We played bowls, volleyball and table tennis and used the bar and lounge for drinks. The food was nice and the dining room ambiance worked for adults and kids. The resort needs a bit of a makeover and its look and feel is a bit outdated, but that didn't bother us as much. The spa experience was average. The visit overall was one of the highlights of our family holiday.
A great place if you wanting a break away from everyday chores. Friendly staff. Place is well kept. Its more for quite and relaxation.
Thw Nest Drakensberg Hotel is a beautiful getway and the tranquil environment is just what busy people need to de stress and relax. The full boards meals are excellent. The staff are great and the gardens are beautiful. We enjoyed the place and will certainly return. Thank you
Such great potential but i find it just falls short... there are a few small things this place can do to improve. Firstly...if I. Staying there for a few days the waiter can get to know me,especially sinc3 its the same waiter each night. The food is not bad...But there is a reason no one does 6 course meals anymore...it's a terrible waste. While we are on the topic...go easy on the garnish or decorations....every plate that came my way had this clover looking plant on it....regardless of what I ordered, eggs, pasta, fish....u name it and the little clovers came with itIf the building was maintained with as much care as the lawn that the lawn bowls is played on it would be so much better. A great start would be to paint the ceiling of the dining area... Then maybe make sure all the curtain rails are the same height. More deck chairs around the pool area would be nice. The view is spectacular from some places...But in other places u get a view of a rusty broken tractor and junk piled up
A 6 course meal worth R145 sounds like a great deal, right? The very small, but expected, portions were not something to make a fuss about. But when you are served small portions of mediocre quality food in a rushed manner: now that's something to make a BIG fuss about. The service was poor. We were refused biscuits: although we paid for it. I would not recommend anyone to go here. Your money is worth more elsewhere.
We were recommended to come here for their 6 course dinner. It starts at 7pm and we arrived promptly after. Nice old style dinning room with good food and price. But from the moment we arrived we were RUSHED. They served each meal before we were even halfway with the previous one. The started packing up tables and chairs while we were having our dessert and it was only 8.30pm.
"Stay was great,"
Food selection was great.Activities that the establishment could have done, such as bowling and volleyball was not played.
Keep up the standards!
