Reviews for The Richmond Cafe and Rooms
We woke up in a wonderland of snow, but inside was so much warm and love. A lovely overnight stay and the staff very welcoming. An excellent choice and I can recommend this place. Meals are also available in their restaurant on the premises
Our overnight stay was ridiculously pleasant! Accommodation was opulent (read fireplace in the bathroom!). In winter, that is insanely sexy and comforting. Food: just perfect. Try the French Toast for brekkie. It was my best ever! It is not a small dish. Made with homemade bread. Citrus reduction honey, bacon, fresh fruit, butter.... Man, it was exquisite! So anyway. Stop there and sleep over. Life is about the journey.
What a gem! So much passion and love in one location! Food was lovely. Room was great! Suggestion: Richmond is COLD! So come prepared.
Delicious food. Owners very loving. Bathrooms outside so little hard to find.
Absolutely stunning place. The family room is lovely and well decorated. The staff is very friendly, energetic and caters for your every need. We had a wonderful time staying here.
What a wonderful little find! I was initially attracted to the sounds of a piano being played, and was pleasantly surprised when I found an elderly woman playing. She added to the incredible atmosphere. The staff were wonderful too. Highly respectful to the pianist and great to clients alike. A great place for a meal and great service to boot.
Lovely place with warm, good service. Enjoyed the connections we made. This is a great place to stop over. You'll have good food with fresh herbs and vegetables.
Treasure on N1, great for stopovers. Rooms and restaurant were amazing.
Stunning place and warm atmosphere. Friendly people and great food. A must stop.
Unbelievable experience. Wow. Stayed the night in an amazing room. The bed was massive and possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The Victorian bath was exactly what my wife needed after a long drive through the Karoo. But the restaurant... oh... my... word...The chef (I forget his name, but he's a totally awesome and quite shy dude) is from the town. His deft hand at bringing Karoo flavored to life is likely unmatched. We have eaten at many restaurants around the world and I can't recall such subtly, such simplicity, so much flavour from the most basic ingredients. The breakfast is a monster! The Karoo lamb chops or pie are deliscious. I told my wife that we will drive back down to Cape Town again at some stage just so that we can visit again. And if you're looking for some ultra modern, pretentious five star luxury why are you driving across the country? Get on a plane and straight to your artificial plastic digs on either side of your destination. This is the Karoo at a different level. Quirky, intelligent, weird, comfortable, simple yet luxurious, open, friendly, kind and happy. An experience I will never forget - and this was just a lay-over.
Awesome place. The most incredible gingerbread. Definitely the place to return to.
Thank you for a most pleasant stay.
"Loved this interesting place as an un-generic stop-over. "
The rustic but beautiful, modern-farmstyle rooms, decor and food, truly made our stop-over in Richmond felt like a bit of a destination as part of a road trip. Herb gardens everywhere, European decor magazines and plunger coffee in the room gives it a tripple tumbs up. Loved this unusual place!
