Reviews for The Royal Hotel
Lovely old style charm, with well appointed and immaculately kept facilities. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and the service was excellent. They serve the a G&T that is also a feast for the eye!
We stumbled upon the Royal Hotel on a road trip in the Swartland and so happy we did. The team on the day were great friendly and welcoming not to mention assisting our elderly parents. The food was excellent and definitely will be visiting it again hopefully next time to enjoy the accommodation too.
We had a friendly waitress...we ordered a simple Caesar salad for lunch and the egg was blue. After asking when it was made she replied with honesty " this morning". Needless the say that the salad was returned and we shared the other eggless salad which was way too salty. We wouldn't eat there again.
Peaceful, out of the way beautiful surroundings!...great food, rich history, awesome service. A must experience getaway from the hustle and bustle!... Probably gets packed during season time!
Very nice old country hotel. Rooms are luxurious and quite spacy. Grounds are well kept with nice gardens. Restaurant and bar is a pleasure to visit. Good food and good selection of wine. Ample parking in front of the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Visit recommended.
Only visited the bar. But a beautiful old hotel. Great staff. The biggest selection of gins I've ever seen.
We stopped for lunch. The service was good but the food took a bit long. The fish & chips and the burger were both exceptional. The batter was crispy- as were the chips. The burger tasted home made and a wonderful flavour.
Great accommodation. We got complementary cake and tea between 4-5. Service was great and the G&Ts were fantastic. They made excellent dinner recommendations and overall was a wonderful experience.
Service is great, staff is very competent and friendly. If you go there twice they will probably remember you the 3rd time around. The Gin selection has depth and the is good to. Just don't expect to pay McD prices. Service and quality don't come cheap but their prices are reasonable. Summer nights with an open air amphitheatre is definitely a good combo in my book. All in all, it definitely a must see is your visiting the valley.
Loved my stay. It was my birthday and they have really made me feel super special. Are definitely going back. Thank you to all staff at The Royal Hotel. X
Spend an entire day on the balcony of the hotel. It was great! The food was delicious. We heard that the hotel is famous for its gin and tried it. We were not disappointed at all.
Something you should do at least once. An historic establishment. A really well stocked bar, all the good quality liquor you could think of or need. Gin being the current trend but The Royal has always been well know for their Gin tradition..Very good service provided by the team.Rooms are spacious and well appointed with everything you need. Spacious and very comfortable beds. The restaurant food is of a high standard and I feel you get what you pay for. Breakfast is part of the deal and very good. An excellent option.
Stayed in one of the King suites. Very spacious and clean. Bit pricey for the location, but will not deter me from visiting again. Only complaint is the mattress. Seriously needs replacement! Wonderful staff! Will see you all again!
I haven't stayed over. I can say that the atmosphere and decor is comfortable and relaxing. I wish there weren't any animal heads or skins around. The bartender was knowledgeable and professional. We sat on the veranda and enjoyed some great g&t's. Beautiful view. Nice and quiet. Exactly what we needed right then.
"A Brilliant Experience"
We sadly could stay only one night (wish it could have been one week!) The experience could not have been bettered. Great rooms, superb views from both the front and rear of the hotel, and wonderful service.Dinner and breakfast at the Royal Restaurant were both excellent, and the wine list is awesome. We'll definitely be back!!!
We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Hotel in Riebeeck Kasteel, with the cold raining weather the fires were burning in the lounge and the dining room and we had the most wonderful dinner. A venue definitely recommendable!
