The Wallow Guesthouse in Wilderness
The Wallow is set on a 3.25ha country estate, with indigenous forest and Fynbos alongside a wallow once visited by the roaming Knysna elephants, but alas no longer. We are in a Nature conservation area and therefore wildlife abounds, with birds and regular sightings of our resident Crested Eagle, searching for a meal. Spot the Ducks, or listen to the Owls hooting in the evenings , the croaking of frogs, swallows building their nests, and Bushbuck wandering about cautiously, wild and free, making this an ideal venue to relax and unwind. Truly, food for the soul.
All units are ground level, with well-appointed furnishings and bedding with percale linen. All the units have their own entrances, and consist of 1 or 2 bedrooms, lounge/dining area, TV1,2,3 and e-TV, M-net, DVD player as well as one DStv channel. Bathrooms have washbasins, showers only and w/c.
Exterior bench tables on private decks afford guests the opportunity to enjoy breakfast or sundowners whilst soaking up the view in crisp fresh air. Portable braais are supplied for each unit. Parking is off street and secure, with one bay per unit.
Our location is perfect to explore the surrounding areas with lots to do. The Cango Caves, Knysna forest and lagoons are only a short drive away.Go hiking in the forests and river gorges. Dive with sharks. Treetop safaris and long, long walks along pristine beaches. Go Boating on Island Lake or Have a relaxing paddle up the Serpentine or Kaaimans River. Fishing in the Lagoon, off the beach or deep sea, Bass fishing at Groenvlei. Sailing, Hang Gliding or watching Southern Right Whales from Dolphins Point. Surfing at one of the most renowned spots on our coastline, Victoria Bay.
The Garden Route Mall with shops, cinemas etc. is just a short drive away. Golf courses a- plenty with, amongst others, Fancourt, Kingswood and Oubaai just around the corner or simply relax and enjoy the tranquillity.
So, what are you waiting for? Wilderness is not described ( and internationally known ) as the Gateway to the Garden Route for nothing. Experience it for yourself. If you truly need a holiday to remember. Wilderness will steal a piece of your heart, in exchange for the memories you will take away with you.
