Cape Town, Cape Town Central - Accommodation
Train Lodge in Cape Town
The accommodation is in two-and four-berth compartments where you can opt for a choice of single or double bed cabins. The bathroom facilities have been built behind and separately from the coaches, designed to be easily accessible and private. The locomotive bar and cocktail lounge areas are fitted with flat-screen TVs with DStv, a swimming pool and a braai area. Our pride and joy is our restaurant situated in one of the coaches, where you can experience our delicious food from our a la carte menu.
Our cigar lounge is a favourite part of our venue for parties and functions. It is open to the public from 10 am daily until late at night. The lounge has comfortable couches and a fireplace making it a cosy and relaxed environment, and we screen all major sport events. Our swimming pool area has bar facilities offering sundowners, and is ideal for groups of up to 65 people. We can arrange any tour, as well as transfers, transport bookings and travel advice.

Reviews for Train Lodge
it was nice l enjoyed myself and will be back soon
The service was great...it was close to where i was,the people serving the were great.Mr Jean was great.
Nice place, Very clean, neat and tidy just wish they had tv's and music in the rooms
This place is not in great shape, but probably value for money.
had a lovely stay. The staff was very helpful and friendly from the time we arrived until we left.
Basic maintenance not done. Plugs and lights out of order. Drawers broken for a long time.
I went to an event here and the venue was too small for the amount of people attending. If you do use this venue keep the number of people limited to ensure there's enough room for everyone.
I am not impressed at all. Condition shocking. Undesirable elements walking around freely. Big no.Definitely not recommended.
The rooms them self are in an old train. You go from a platform into your rooms.Great for backpakers on the move.A good experience
Superior layout and worth itIf you in town and need quick accommodation give them a call
We were looking forward to staying in what we thought would be an interesting train conversion. What we experienced was extremely run-down accommodation. Communal toilet door had no lock and the other toilet in our carriage had the seat ripped off and lying on the floor. The door to the outside shower (which only had cold water) was locked and nailed shut. We were told we could use the shower across the platform outside another carriage. No soap or paper towels in the toilets. The previous evening the hotel had hosted what the front-desk clerk told us was a "rave" involving about 450 people on the platform between the coaches. Broken bottles and cigarette butts littered the floor. At 2.00pm, when we checked in, it looked as if cleanup had just begun ... and never finished! The photograph representing the platform lounge is not accurate as the furniture (torn and dirty) was not fit to sit on. Apart from the bar, the entire operation was shoddy and well below second-rate. We would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
