Reviews for Travellers Rest
Fantastic stop off through the cederberg region
This was a wonderful place to stay for the weekend. I loved the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere only 3 hours from Cape Town.We did the rock art hike and that was very cool. Will recommend this establishment to my friends for sure for anyone wanting a nice getaway
"Our little house Akkedis"
Beautiful view from our doorstep. Quiet and hot for 3 days! Wonderful to get back to nature and watch how the shadows change over the vast open spaces. Hiking trail to the Bushman sites was also great. People are friendly and the Restaurant had great food.
Why does this place not come up on google maps until you have zoomed into their doormat? We broke down nearby and were helped greatly by staff, customers and passers by. Wonderful friendly vibe.
A gem for nature lovers as well as for those who wish to see the trace of historic Bushmen paintings. The restaurant is stunning. The accommodation is okay but in need for touch up and repairs.
We had tea and later dinner. Very friendly quaint place with meals and tourist stuff. To bad they allow illegal smoking and make no attempt to control it. So if you like clean air you may have to stay away.
Great home style food and friendly service! The farmstall has great variety and some basics you might have forgotten to pack! The Sevilla Rock Art trail starts here and definitely worth checking out!
Great food, good coffee and even ceaft beers. Nice place to stsy for rock climbing and seeing the Sevilla rock art trail. People are super friendly and inviting. Even just for a stop over to Wupperthal or Nieuwoudtville it is a nice stop
So peaceful. Good food and friendly service.
good place to chill after a good boulder afternoon. very nice burgers :)
Enjoyed our stay there. The cottages are well equipped and spacious. A bit bohemian but this provides character. The walk to see the many good examples of the San Rock paintings is not strenuous or too long. The coffee flavoured milkshakes are very good. Enjoy one after the rock painting walk.
The short hike was really nice. Watch out for baboons!
Basic but well thought out accommodation in one of the most incredible parts of South Africa is managed by a farming community that make you feel welcome . Nearby rock paintings are wonderful to see. Rock climbing and hiking in the nearby national park and 4x4 trails and the home of Rooibos tea in the area. The wild flowers in season are brilliant.
We walked the Sevilla Rock Art Trail and combined our visit with a lunch break at Traveller's Rest. It has been an outstanding experience. The self guided rock art trail was an interesting excursion into the valley. A small brochure with the trail's points of interest and a map describes the art along the trail. The gift shop also sells an interesting booklet on the art written by Peter Slingsby.Although you may have seen rock art before, the art by the San people, dating back 2,000 to even perhaps 8,000 ago is something special. Lunch was perfect and the gift shop has interesting books on sale, including the best selling Ants of South Africa.
Love Travellers rest! CHarity and Aubrey make you feel like long awaited friends and always have the biggest smiles and hugs when we visit. On our way there today! Can't wait
