Reviews for Zoete Inval Traveller's Lodge
My girlfriend and I just spent the two loveliest nights of our entire backpacker's trip in this beautiful gemstone of a guesthouse! Every little detail in this atmospheric place has been thought through, decorated and furnished with love and skill - it's a real eco-hostel, the staff is extremely friendly, helpful and the hostel has everything you'd ask for: it's tidy, the beds are comfortable, the showers are hot and clean, there is a steaming hot whirlpool on the rooftop terrace and a delicious breakfast with fruits, muesli, bread, home made jam and muffins and kfir is served for free! they even fire the wooden chimney if you're cold! There is a save private parking adjacent to the building (mind the electric gate which closes automatically!). If you're on a budget trip, there is a fully equipped kitchen for self catering, plus they offer great wine for small prices at the hostel. It's maybe not a place for disco and party, but a bottle of cool white wine in an outdoor jacouzi watching the stars is the perfect alternative :-)the only sad thing was to be leaving after 2 days only! ps: location: excellent! Just an easy 5 minute walk from the seafront and the restaurants.
The reception was cold and unfriendly. This is far by the most racist , rude, ineffective , unaccommodating , intolerant Zoet house in the Western Cape owned by a very rude old white man and his wife. we booked for 2 nights , on the second day we were thrown out of the house like street kids because a friend vomited in her room. we were insulted ,labeled by all sorts of names. in the policy there is nothings says if a person has messed up in her room the duration of accommodation will be cancelled. Even though we tried to negotiate with them to show that we understand the situation and we are willing to pay the damage. They were very annoyed. we felt like we were in boarding school. so many unnecessary rules. We requested the refund of the second night becoz we slept for only a night and boom kicked out and we still want our money. we cant be kicked out and they take money as well. Breakfast was really poor. Coffee +bread+ and this horrible jam. how can we wake up to eat bread with peanut butter . We went out to get breakfast we didn't even have time to sit a7 enjoy our breakfast too many irritating calls from them telling us to come and take responsibility of our rooms, what kind of horrible service is that when you are doing business? we paid for everything after all. A question is , what do you do when a woman suddenly gets period without noticing and mess-up if vomiting is a big deal??? we are women after all. 05 October 2018.
Nice stay but scruffy.
Not child friendly. Its seriously a place for 1 night stay only.
Wonderful place to discover Hermanus. Good price. Great passionate owners with a world of knowledge about the whole region & wine area. Delicious breakfast. Definitely coming back !!!
Eco-friendly and creative place, super welcoming people. However quite noisy caused by frequent traffic on Main Road.
U will have to pay extra to breath. On arrival we were told we can use the Jacuzzi. Then later we were told it's R20 per person for 30 min to use it. Also R20 if u want to drink something as they are licenced. R100 deposit to make sure u clean the kitchen after urself and bring the towels to reception with checkout. In the end it's not such a bad stay as the staff is really nice and friendly especially the guy that works weekends.
very nice, cosy and was pleasant to stay there. Breakfast was plain and simple but to pay exstra R10.00 for a boiled egg was bit high. others that was also there agreed.
Quaint and comfortable. Good quality sheets and beds. Some rooms furnished with tasteful antique furniture. There is a rooftop Jacuzzi. Some rooms have a shared kitchen. Many options for groups and families. Huge library and living room. Beautiful outdoor shady sitting areas with a waterfall. A basic Continental breakfast is included, but adding a cheese and mushroom omlett makes for a sumptuous meal. The Owners are friendly and full of local information.
The owner, Marilyn, was extremely friendly and added a homely, personal touch to our stay.
